President Donald Trump is widening his lead over the Republican presidential primary candidates by leaps and bounds, a new poll from Rasmussen Reports has revealed.

According to their survey, Trump is the heavy favorite among GOP voters for the 2024 Republican Party’s presidential nomination next year, scoring a 28-point lead over the second-place contender, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

In a head-to-head matchup, Trump was preferred by 58 percent of GOP voters, while 30 percent preferred DeSantis. According to an analysis from the National Pulse, since February 2023, Trump has risen 13 points in their poll, while DeSantis has lost 2 points.

Per Rasmussen:

“In a survey last month with a six-candidate GOP primary field – including former Vice President Mike Pence, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, as well as DeSantis – Trump got 62% support from Republican voters, compared to 17% for DeSantis and single digits for everyone else.”

Most Republicans also believe that President Trump is the man who is best equipped to beat Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election.

As previously reported by RSBN, Trump dominated a new Morning Consult survey by an impressive 30 points, when GOP voters were asked who had the best chance of beating Biden.

Trump emerged as the victor in that survey, netting 55 percent of support against DeSantis’s 25 percent.

Per Rasmussen’s data, DeSantis has lost some support since announcing his presidential candidacy in late May. In the Sunshine State Battleground Poll shared by Florida Politics, for example, Trump is leading the governor in his own backyard by 20 points.

Their survey found that in a 2024 poll of the Republican presidential primary, 53 percent of Florida GOP voters preferred Trump while 33 percent preferred the governor.
