President Donald Trump came after Colorado GOP Senate nominee Joe O’Dea in an unflinching statement shared to Truth Social, eviscerating the Republican candidate for being a “RINO.”
“There’s this RINO character in the Great State of Colorado, Joe O’Dea, that is running against the incumbent Democrat for the United States Senate, who is having a good old time saying that he wants to ‘distance’ himself from President Trump, and other slightly nasty things,” Trump wrote.
According to a report from Just the News, O’Dea recently told CNN that if President Trump runs for president again in 2024, “I’m going to actively campaign against Donald Trump and make sure that we’ve got four or give really great Republicans right now.”
Trump continued, “He should look at the Economy, Inflation, Energy Independence, defeating ISIS, the Strongest EVER Border, Great Trade Deals, & much more, before he speaks.”
Trump has endorsed just one candidate in Colorado ahead of the midterms, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R). The president endorsed Boebert in 2021, calling her a “fearless leader, a defender of the America First Agenda, and a fighter against the Loser RINOs and Radical Democrats.”
O’Dea’s Senate race has been plagued by alleged dark money in connection to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, per the Colorado Sun. The outlet reported that Schumer’s super PAC, 53 Peaks, has poured over $3 million into attack ads against O’Dea.
On CNN, O’Dea also added that he would like to focus on making sure a Republican candidate in 2024 had the potential to serve eight years.
Unfortunately, O’Dea’s negative comments about President Trump have not scored him any brownie points with the powerful MAGA voting base in Colorado. Per Just the News, O’Dea is polling seven points behind his Democrat opponent, Sen. Michael Bennet (D).
“MAGA doesn’t Vote for stupid people with big mouths,” Trump concluded. “Good luck Joe!”
