President Donald Trump called out special counsel Jack Smith and other Department of Justice (DOJ) officials Monday, stating that they “will end up” in a “mental institution” if he’s reelected as president next year.

Trump posted on Truth Social, calling out Smith, former DOJ official Andrew Weissmann and U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.

The 45th president labeled them the “team of losers and misfits,” claiming that they are not only “working illegally” to take him down but suffer from “Trump derangement syndrome.”

“Deranged Jack Smith, Andrew Weissmann, Lisa Monaco, the ‘team of losers and misfits’ from CREW, and all the rest of the Radical Left Zealots and Thugs who have been working illegally for years to ‘take me down,’ will end up, because of their suffering from a horrible disease, TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (TDS!), in a Mental Institution by the time my next term as President is successfully completed,” Trump wrote.

Smith is currently overseeing two separate criminal investigations into Trump. His two cases have indicted the former president for allegedly attempting to overthrow the 2020 elections as well as allegedly mishandling classified documents, according to BBC

Weissmann and Monaco have also notably had a significant part in investigating Trump. Weissmann is known for handling the prosecution of Trump’s former campaign chief, Paul Manafort, as well as the familiar Trump-Russia investigation

Before being confirmed as deputy attorney general in April of 2021, Monaco worked under the Obama administration as the homeland security advisor to former President Obama, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. Monaco has since led the investigation into alleged efforts by Trump to undermine the 2020 election.

Smith nor any of the DOJ officials have released a response yet to Trump’s statement.
