President Trump honors nursing student Laken Riley, who tragically died after being attacked by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.
On Feb. 22, the University of Georgia police found the body of nursing student Laken Riley after she was fatally assaulted while out for a jog in the woods in Athens, Georgia, per Fox News. The murder suspect is Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.
According to reports by Fox News, Ibarra is being accused of aggravated battery and “disfiguring her skull.” Fox News reported that Ibarra had illegally entered the country in El Paso, Texas, in September 2022 and was paroled into the U.S.
In light of Riley’s tragic death, President Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to honor her and pay his respects to her family. He wrote, “Laken Riley was a spectacular young woman whose life was taken from us, and her great family, by a savage monster who should not have been in our Country.”
President Trump called out Biden’s failing open border policies that have now resulted in a historic border crisis, saying, “We must rid ourselves of this ridiculous Open Border, right now.”
Others have echoed President Trump’s thoughts, like Governor Brian Kemp, R-Ga., who said in a statement, “Laken Riley’s tragic death struck the hearts of Georgians everywhere and has rightfully sparked national outrage. As I have said many times before: every state is now a border state because of Joe Biden’s inaction.”
RSBN reported that House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., met with Biden to discuss the border crisis and make shutting down the border a priority in an effort to stop the spread of migrant crime.
