President Donald Trump is favored to win the 2024 National Republican Primary in a hypothetical matchup, leading more than a dozen Republicans in a recent survey.
A poll from Cygnal conducted from Oct. 10-12 of 1,204 likely 2024 GOP primary voters revealed that Trump held a commanding lead with 45 percent over an array of potential GOP primary candidates, Breitbart reported.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in at a distant second, trailing behind the 45th president at 26 percent. No other potential candidate earned more than 10 percent of support.
The poll notes that former Vice President Mike Pence received nine percent support, followed by former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley at three percent.
Should President Trump decide not to run for president again, DeSantis would take the lead, jumping to 46 percent. However, the Florida governor would not receive all of Trump’s votes. The 45th president’s numbers would be split across the GOP primary field, pushing Pence to 17 percent and Haley to 4 percent.
A September poll similarly showed Trump dominating the presidency in a hypothetical 2024 matchup with 49 percent support, beating Joe Biden. Trump would also triumph over Kamala Harris, 51-42, RSBN reported.
The 45th president has continually hinted at another presidential run in 2024, bringing the crowd to their feet during a Save America rally in North Carolina last month, per RSBN.
“I ran twice, I won twice, and I did much better the second time than I did the first, getting many millions more votes,” Trump said as the crowd broke into “USA!” chants.
“And we may just have to do it [run for president] again!” he added.
