President Donald Trump could announce a decision on whether he will run for president again in 2024 as soon as September.
According to a report from The Washington Post, two of Trump’s advisors anonymously told the publication that Trump may announce his plans before the midterm elections; some indicated that he might announce as early as September.
Additionally, Trump himself stated in a recent interview with New York Magazine that he had “already made that decision” about whether to run in 2024. He additionally indicated that the next biggest decision is whether he should announce his decision before or after the midterms.
“I just think that there are certain assets to before. Let people know. I think a lot of people would not even run if I did that because, if you look at the polls, they don’t even register…,” Trump told the magazine.
According to the Washington Post report, one of Trump’s reported longtime advisors stated that most are advising the president to wait until after the midterms to announce a presidential bid. However, it is unclear if Trump is going to take that route.
However, as Trump is mulling over when to announce his decision about running in 2024, Joe Biden is unlikely to run against Trump again. According to a new poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire, only nine percent of voters surveyed “definitely” want Biden to run for the office of presidency again in 2024.
The Washington Post reported that two sources close to the president stated that Trump has allegedly already started talking with advisers about campaign planning and asked to have an online platform ready in case he announces soon.
Further, the odds are in Trump’s favor as he looks ahead to 2024. In a recent hypothetical 2024 matchup conducted by Golden TIPP, Trump dominated a field of GOP hopefuls with the lion’s share of 55 percent of support among Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents.
