President Donald Trump offered Americans more insight regarding the war in Ukraine. During his interview on the Full Send Podcast on Thursday, he explained how the mishandling of the Afghanistan withdrawal “emboldened” Putin.

He decried the Biden administration’s handling of the situation and took responsibility for initially starting the withdrawal under his administration. However, President Trump noted that a small military presence would have been left behind under his oversight and that the main Air Force base in the area would have remained occupied.

He said, “We were going to stay in Bagram Air Force base because it’s an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons.”

This plan was not properly executed, and President Trump disclosed that, “China’s taken it over.”

He blamed this on the current administration’s incompetence. Although relations between the U.S. and Russia were strengthened under Trump’s leadership, he noted that Biden’s failure in Afghanistan led Putin to take advantage of the situation and march on Ukraine.

Concerns over the Russia-Ukraine war have grown since the Pentagon leaks alleged that the conflict is heading toward a stalemate, according to the Washington Post, and that American troops have been stationed on the ground without congressional approval, via RSBN.

President Trump stated, “That country’s being obliterated.”

He recently told RSBN in a sit down interview that he could negotiate an end to the war within 24 hours.

“Well, first of all, it should have never started – it would have never started had I been president,” Trump remarked. “…It can be negotiated, I think, within 24 hours. It really has to be done from the office of the president, and you have to get them both in a room.”

Regarding continued American involvement, he told Full Send Podcast, “They’ve given so much so fast to Ukraine that we are in a very bad defensive position.”
