President Trump is remaining committed to achieving his goal of a fair trade deal with China. In comments to reporters on Wednesday, Trump stated that he is working towards settling the tariff battle and establishing a deal that is fair to both countries.

When asked if he had seen how the stock market had reacted to tariff news, President Trump reiterated that various countries are working with the administration to reach a resolution.

“Tariff negotiations are doing very well. We’re dealing with many, many countries. They all want to be involved with America,” Trump said.

President Trump emphasized that, despite market reactions, the implementation of tariffs and the creation of new trade agreements would ultimately result in a net benefit for U.S. citizens.

“We have a lot of action going on. We’re making a lot of money in this country. This country is not going to be losing money on trade anymore. We were losing two trillion dollars a year on trade. Now we’re going to be making money.” Trump said.

“Every country wants to partake, even countries that have ripped us off for many, many years. China is an example, but it’s not just China,” Trump said. “They ripped us off for many, many years, and those days are over. We’re going to make a lot of money for our people. We’ll be able to lower taxes substantially, and we’re going to be proud of ourselves. We’re not going to be a laughingstock that got taken advantage of by virtually every country in the world.”

When asked about China, Trump remained optimistic that a mutually beneficial deal could be reached.

“We are going to have a fair deal with China,” Trump said.

Trump also confirmed he was actively talking with China. “Everything’s active. Everybody wants to be a part of what we’re doing. They know that they can’t get away with it any longer but they’re still going to do fine.”

“Now we’re going to be making money with everyone,” Trump said. “We’re no longer going to be the country that’s ripped off by every country in the world.”
