Since taking office, President Trump has worked diligently to bring an end to the war in Ukraine. Unlike the Biden-Harris administration, the Trump administration has been willing to diplomatically engage with Russia to stop the bloodshed.

President Trump spoke by telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday to discuss Ukraine’s attack on Russian bombers and other global issues. He gave a summary of the call on Truth Social.

“I just finished speaking, by telephone, with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia. The call lasted approximately one hour and 15 minutes. We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides,” Trump wrote.

He acknowledged that in light of recent events, a swift end to the war could be delayed. “It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”

The pair also discussed Iran, likely due to Putin’s pragmatic relationship with the Islamic Republic. “We also discussed Iran, and the fact that time is running out on Iran’s decision pertaining to nuclear weapons, which must be made quickly! I stated to President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and, on this, I believe that we were in agreement,” Trump remarked.

He noted that Putin’s involvement in negotiations with Iran could be beneficial. “President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion.”

Trump concluded his post with his take on Iran’s apparent stall tactics. “It is my opinion that Iran has been slowwalking their decision on this very important matter, and we will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time!”

Trump recently slammed Biden for four years of inaction regarding Iran and declared, “WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM.”

Shortly after his phone call with Putin, Trump shared an opinion piece from the Washington Post that suggested Congress could “give Trump the leverage to coerce Putin” by passing a bipartisan sanctions bill.
