President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump expressed their condolences to golf legend Tiger Woods after it was announced that his mother passed away at the age of 78.

Trump shared his thoughts in a post on Truth Social that included a picture of Woods with his parents from several years ago.

“I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful Mother, Kultida, passed away — She has gone onto greener fairways! Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger, and gave him much of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family!” Trump wrote.

Woods shared the loss of his mother in an emotional post to X on Tuesday.

“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable,” Woods said in a statement on X. “She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.

“She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom.”

Kultida Woods, born in Thailand, worked as a civilian in the U.S. Army’s Bangkok office during the 1960s, where she met Earl Woods, a soldier in the U.S. Army Special Forces. In 1968, she moved to the United States, and the couple married in New York before settling in Cypress, California. Their son, Tiger Woods, was born there in 1975, ESPN reported.

Kultida and Earl remained married for 37 years until his passing from cancer in May 2006 at the age of 74.

“My mom doesn’t get enough credit,” Woods said at the Bob Jones award dinner last June. “Everyone thought that it was my dad when I went on the road, which it was, but Mom was at home. If you don’t know, Mom has been there my entire life.”
