President Donald Trump amplified the message of MAGA on Truth Social after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced his candidacy during an online Twitter Spaces event on Wednesday with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I know Ron. The way he handled his announcement, he will handle the Country!”
He also jabbed, “Is the DeSantis launch FATAL? Yes!”
On Wednesday night, Gov. DeSantis’s online Twitter Spaces launch hit a road bump when it was dogged by technical glitches. This prompted many people to joke that the DeSantis campaign had experienced a “failure to launch.”
“Tim Scott’s Presidential launch, even with the broken microphone (don’t pay the contractor, Tim!), was by far the best Presidential launch of the week,” Trump quipped. “Robs was a catastrophe!”
The president also joked, “’Rob,’ My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!).”
The Trump campaign also released a series of blistering statements on Wednesday night, slamming DeSantis for his voting record on ethanol, Medicare, Social Security, and even accusing the governor of plagiarizing the president’s 2020 State of the Union with his use of the phrase, “Great American Comeback,” which is the main slogan for the governor’s campaign.
“Perhaps, the DeSantis communications staff was pre-occupied attempting to extinguish the flames of their candidate’s announcement to come up with their own message,” Trump’s team stated.
President Trump also pointed out on Truth Social that DeSantis’s sizeable political war chest may be in jeopardy because of when it was raised. “DeSanctimonious raised much of his money during his run for Governor, which in theory cannot be used for his current ‘escapade,’ and before his poll numbers tanked – and wow(!) did they tank!” he wrote.
Trump also shared 2024 primary political polling for the Republican Party nomination on Truth Social last night, elevating the data from a Clarity Campaign poll that showed him towering over DeSantis with a whopping 56-point lead.
“I’d like to personally congratulate ‘Rob’ DeSanctimonious on finally announcing that he will be entering the race for President of the United States,” Trump concluded.
He added, “Hopefully he will get the full experience of being attacked by the Marxists, Communists, and Radical Left Lunatics of our Country, without which he will never know the kind of job he is doing.”
