President Donald Trump is reportedly planning on doing a few things differently if he runs for president in 2024 and takes back the White House in 2025.
According to a new report from Axios, the 45th president has considerably tightened his inner circle of advisors and tossed those who deny that overwhelming evidence of election fraud occurred during the 2020 presidential election.
Trump has reportedly surrounded himself strategically with Republican allies who have resiliently stuck with him in the aftermath of the chaos of 2020. According to Axios, Trump has distanced himself from the likes of former senior advisor Hope Hicks, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, former Vice President Mike Pence, and his former campaign manager, Bill Stepien.
In November 2021, Trump promised to endorse “SMART America First Republican Patriots” ahead of the 2022 midterms. He added, “Saving America starts by saving the GOP from RINOs, sellouts, and known losers!”
It appears that Trump is applying the same strategy to selecting members of his inner circle in the event of a potential second term. Axios’s report revealed that Trump’s closest advisors now consist of a few tried-and-true loyalists, including former White House officials Dan Scavino, Stephen Miller, and even his fourth chief of staff, Mark Meadows.
Since leaving office in 2021, President Trump has been targeted relentlessly with political witch hunts, most prominently demonstrated in the Jan. 6 committee’s ongoing investigations.
Despite the political persecution, Trump has maintained dominance in the polls ahead of a potential 2024 run. A recent Morning Consult and Politico poll showed him ahead with a hefty 51 percent of likely Republican voters.
Since leaving office in 2021, Trump has regrouped and reorganized, holding electric Save America rallies across the country as the 2022 midterms approach. He has also surrounded himself with steadfast allies like MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, former Rep. Devin Nunes, and former chief of staff to the acting secretary of defense during Trump’s administration, Kash Patel.
In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Trump stated that he “had already made that decision” regarding whether he would run in 2024.
If he does decide to jump into the race, it looks like he will be positioned to take back the Oval Office with a tight and loyal team of advisors around him.
