President Donald Trump will reportedly be charged with 34 felony counts on Tuesday for allegedly falsifying business records, according to a source connected to Yahoo News.
Additionally, the 45th president will not be “put in handcuffs,” confined within a “jail cell” or required to pose for a “mugshot.” Some voices might cry that President Trump is getting preferential treatment, however, that is not the case. As claimed by Yahoo News, the judicial processing of Trump matches the “typical procedures even for white-collar defendants until a judge has weighed in on pretrial conditions.”
According to the Yahoo exclusive, the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg does not suspect Trump to be a “flight risk” or a threat to anyone involved in the court proceedings. On this reasoning, Bragg’s office notified the Secret Service and the New York City court officials that Trump is not expected to be restrained with handcuffs or to have a booking photograph taken of him.
The punishment for falsifying business documents could result in years of incarceration. “Under the New York State penal code, a conviction for the Class E felony of falsifying business records can result in a prison term of up to four years,” states Yahoo News. However, a New York law enforcement official told the outlet that imprisonment is unlikely because “no one gets jail time for that as a first offender.”
At this time, there is no information on how the indictment details were leaked to the press. Yahoo News describes the anonymous source as a “source who has been briefed on the procedures for the arraignment of the former president.”
Following the breaking story, President Trump sounded off on Truth Social. “Wow! District Attorney Bragg just illegally LEAKED the various points, and complete information, on the pathetic Indictment against me,” said Trump.
Continuing, Trump proclaimed that Bragg should be “immediately indicted” for presumably disseminating private information surrounding the indictment.
Trump is slated to appear before Judge Juan Merchan at 2:15 pm EDT on Tuesday. Watch RSBN’s full coverage LIVE here.
