President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order on Wednesday to create a task force overseeing the 250th celebration of the United States in 2026.

The president’s order will include a “grand celebration of the semiquincentennial of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence” leading up to July 4 of next year.

Trump order is also expected to reinstate executive actions from his first administration. These include the establishment of the National Garden of American Heroes, a statuary park honoring 250 historically significant Americans, and commissioning artists to create the first 100 statues.

The garden is intended to celebrate “American heroism” following the removal or destruction of numerous monuments, including those of presidents and founding fathers, that were never restored, Fox News reported.

The order is also expected to revive a directive to protect American monuments, memorials, and statues from vandalism or destruction.

The task force follows through on a campaign promise Trump made in May 2023 in a video on Truth Social.

“As a nation, we should be preparing for a most spectacular birthday party. We want to make it the best of all time. Here is my plan to give America’s founding in 1776 the incredible anniversary it truly deserves,” Trump stated at the time.

“On day one, I will convene a White House task force called ‘Salute to America 250.’ It will be responsible for coordinating with state and local governments to ensure not just one day of celebration, but an entire year of festivities across the nation starting on Memorial Day 2025 and continuing through July 4, 2026,” he added.

“The Great American State Fair will showcase the glory of every state in the union. Promote pride in our history. And put forth innovative visions for America’s future,” Trump also said.

America will also be the home of two major international sporting competitions over the next four years, Newsweek noted. “Over the next four years, the U.S. will be home to two major international sporting competitions: the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across 11 American cities and five others in Canada and Mexico, and the 2028 Summer Olympics, to be hosted in Los Angeles.”
