President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will cut energy prices for Americans by at least half.

Trump shared the announcement during his campaign stop in Asheville, North Carolina, before a large audience at Harrah’s Cherokee Center.

“I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the U.S. will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half — at least. Half!” Trump said.

“We intend to slash prices in half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months,” he added.

Trump also pushed for energy bills to drop up to 70 percent after concerns over inflation under the Biden-Harris administration.

“We think that your energy bills will be down by 50%-70%,” he stated. “How good would that be for a thing called inflation?”

The 45th president also commented on his plans to end government spending to help end what he called the Harris “green new scam.”

“To further combat inflation, I will terminate Kamala Harris’ ‘green new scam,’” Trump said.

He promised to “give all of the unspent funds back to building roads, bridges and give it back to the government,” adding, “It’s like what she did, what they did, it’s like throwing billions of dollars out the window.”

Trump continued his push to end taxes on social security during his remarks. His appeal drew strong applause from the friendly crowd of supporters.

“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security!”

The economic emphasis highlighted some items in Trump’s “20 Promises to America” recently released by the GOP.

As RSBN recently reported, the list included Trump’s third promise to “End inflation and make America affordable again.”

The plan’s fourth promise included efforts to “Make America the dominant energy producer in the world, by far!”

The commitment to cut energy bills follows a new poll by Fox News that showed respondents agreeing that Trump is the best candidate to improve the nation’s economy.

On the economy, which respondents called the most important issue, Trump received a surplus of support (52 to 46 percent) over Harris. Overall, Trump led Harris by one point in the presidential race.
