President Donald Trump warned Republicans against Senate Democrats that he claims will soon try “tricks” to stall the confirmation of his nominees.
Trump shared the concerns in a Truth Social post on Tuesday morning.
“We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organizing to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees. They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon,” he wrote.
“Republicans must not allow them to do that. We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats. REPUBLICANS, BE SMART AND TOUGH!!!” Trump added.
Among those most criticized by Democrats have been former Hawaiian Democratic Rep. and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, who was nominated Trump to serve as director of national intelligence. In contrast, over 250 veterans signed a letter this month offering support to Gabbard.
The letter was signed by several well-known names, including retired Gen. Michael Flynn, former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, Arizona Rep. Rep. Eli Crane, Florida Rep. Brian Mast and political commentator Jack Posobiec.
“President Donald Trump’s selection of Tulsi Gabbard reflects a profound recognition of her steadfast dedication to our nation and her unwavering commitment to safeguarding the American people. While most Americans know Tulsi as a fearless and principled Congresswoman who stood up to entrenched political systems, we know her as a fellow veteran—one whose worldview was forged through the crucible of serving in combat zones and a lifelong devotion to service,” reads a letter, “American Veterans for Tulsi Gabbard,” which was published in December.
“Because of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, Tulsi answered the call of duty, enlisted in the Army, and stepped away from her position as a Hawaii State Representative when she volunteered to deploy to Iraq with her unit. Instead of using her political status to avoid deployment, Tulsi volunteered to serve in a medical unit in Iraq, directly facing the harsh realities, costs, and traumas of war,” the letter continued.
Other Trump nominees facing harsh criticism include his nominees for Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, and FBI Director, Kash Patel.
