During a Team Trump Iowa Commit to Caucus campaign rally in Mason City, Iowa, on Friday, President Trump excoriated Joe Biden over his lackluster foreign policy, which has caused conflict throughout the globe—particularly in Iran.

Trump told audience members that Iran is just “inches away from having a nuclear bomb” and will likely have a nuclear weapon within the next 61 days as a result of the Biden administration removing sanctions from the country.

“When I was president, Iran was broke. They had no money,” said Trump. “I told China, ‘If you deal with them, you can’t deal with us.’ I told that to India, I told that to France, I told that to every nation.”

He continued, “They were broke, and I wasn’t looking to hurt them, I just don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon. And they weren’t going to have one.”

According to Trump, Iran has become “a very rich nation” with $250 billion in cash” after Biden took office in 2021. He also criticized Biden for giving Iran “$6 billion for five hostages.”

“If it was me, I’d say, ‘We gotta give them up for that kind of money,'” said the 45th president.
