Between the ongoing transition process and announcing the new members of his cabinet, President Donald Trump is scheduled to make his first network interview since his November election victory.

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump is scheduled to sit down with NBC’s Sunday show “Meet the Press” with Kristen Walker. The interview will be pretaped on Friday and air on Sunday, December 8.

This isn’t the first time that Walker has interviewed President Trump. Back in September 2023 Walker interviewed him and was a presidential debate moderator in the 2020 debate between Trump and President Joe Biden.

Trump’s scheduled interview reflects his focus on building media relationships and an obligation to work with the press despite how badly they have treated him leading up to the elections. In a November 18 interview with Fox News Digital, Trump revealed he felt an obligation to work with the press.

Fox News reported that he said he has “an obligation to the American public, and to our country itself, to be open and available to the press.”

He also added, “ If not treated fairly, however, that will end. The media is very important to the long-term success of the United States of America.”

It’s no secret that during this past year, the media has been unfairly vicious toward Trump leading up to the election, and now that he’s won, they’re calling for meetings. However, President Trump has no plans for retribution or to “destroy people who treated me very unfairly, or even badly beyond comprehension.”

According to Fox News, Trump explained during the November interview, “I am always looking to give a second and even third chance, but never willing to give a fourth chance — that is where I hold the line.”

Trump has made it clear that he will do whatever it takes to bring the country to the highest level, and that means working with the media. Fox News reported that he said, “In order to Make America Great Again, it is very important, if not vital, to have a free, fair and open media or press.”
