Fox News host Tucker Carlson tore into weak-kneed Republican lawmakers for their outrage over the release of the anticipated Jan. 6 surveillance footage, slamming the GOP for joining Democrats like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) in opposing the release of the video evidence.
Carlson lambasted Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) for echoing the Democrats’ chorus of disapproval.
“We should also tell you that Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, was joined in this outrage by the Senate MINORITY Leader – and that would be a Republican, Mitch McConnell,” the Fox host said on his show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
For reference, Carlson released video footage from the “insurrection” that took place at the U.S. Capitol Building in 2021 on his program this week, thanks to Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, who allowed Carlson’s team to access the footage.
As reported by RSBN, the footage debunked multiple wild claims made by Democrats and the Jan. 6 Committee, who claimed that the protestors staged a violent insurrection.
Upon its initial release, Carlson noted, “…Taken as a whole, the video record does not support the claim that January 6 was an insurrection. In fact, it demolishes that claim, and that’s exactly why the Democratic Party and its allies in the media prevented you from seeing it.”
On Wednesday, Carlson pointed out that Senate Minority Leader McConnell was joined “by a cascade of Republicans” like “Thom Tillis from North Carolina, Mitt Romney from Utah – all sharing the same outrage.”
Carlson added, “And from this, we learn two things. One, we’re getting close to what they really care about. And you have to ask yourself, why? Why is it so important that they would degrade themselves by telling such obvious lies and calling for censorship? Why? What are they trying to protect?”
A second lesson to be learned from Republican outrage over the release of the Jan. 6 tapes, according to Carlson, is that “they’re on the same side.”
He continued, “The Senate Majority Leader joins the Senate Minority Leader. Thom Tillis, Mitt Romney. They’re ALL on the same side! So, it’s actually NOT about left and right, it’s not about Republican and Democrat. Here, you have people with shared interests.”
“One thing we learned today, is that they’re all in agreement with each other,” Carlson added, pointing to the glaring echo chamber of mainstream Republicans and Democrats.
“They kind of outed themselves, they sort of showed their membership cards of whatever club this is,” he said.
