United Airlines unveiled two custom airplanes that are painted with a new red, white, and blue “Stars and Stripes” design to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
On Monday, United Airlines posted a video of the planes being painted, and stated on X, “As America celebrates 250 years, our newest specialty livery honors the selfless contributions of our nation’s veterans, including the 8,300 military veterans, of which 1,500 are active members of the National Guard and Reserve forces currently at United.”
According to the United Airlines press release, the Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 737-800 Stars and Stripes designs also celebrate the United Military Program, which offers currently serving active-duty military pilots the opportunity to receive conditional job offers with the airline. “Since 2024, nearly 600 military pilots have transitioned to United through the program, with 500 more expected by the end of 2027,” the release stated.
“It’s great to see United join this administration’s call to celebrate America’s historic birthday,” U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy said in the release. “This patriotic design will remind the American people of the many freedoms we enjoy and how lucky we are to be part of the Great American Experiment!”
Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Tex., also celebrated United Airlines’ new Stars and Stripes planes, which were painted in Amarillo, Texas. “It’s GREAT to see TX-13 playing a role in showcasing the SPIRIT, STRENGTH, and PRIDE that have defined America for nearly 250 years. Well done!” he wrote on X.
