The Washington Post announced mass layoffs during a Zoom call, following a request that every employee stay home on Wednesday.

According to Fox News, executive editor Matt Murray and human resources chief Wayne Connell sent a message to employees, stating, “We will be announcing significant actions across the company today. We are asking everyone to stay home this morning for a Zoom webinar at 8:30 a.m. ET to share details. We will be sending a detailed invite later this morning. Please make every effort to join.”
The Washington Post has lost support in recent years due to false reports and political bias. Forbes noted in a 2025 report that the readership was “vanishing,” highlighting the paper’s diminishing influence.
But back in 2021, The Heritage Foundation documented The Washington Post’s obvious political bias regarding President Donald Trump. The foundation found that the outlet relied on an unconfirmed anonymous source who falsely claimed that President Donald Trump attempted to interfere in the 2020 election, misleading the public as Trump sought investigations into the unprecedented results of the highly contested election, which are still being investigated.
According to The American Presidency Project, the Washington Post also falsely reported on the Trump administration’s NIH funding policies, claiming that redirected funding sources for research cut the budget, when they did not.
The White House itself has a record of keeping track of false reporting “offenses” committed by the Washington Post. Last fall, a new Gallup Poll found that trust in the media had plummeted to a new low, with overall trust at 28 percent and Republican trust at a minuscule 8 percent.
