White House Press Secretary torches soft-on-crime policies that led to horrific murder of Iryna Zarutska

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt torched soft-on-crime policies in American cities that contributed to the horrific murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was slain in Charlotte, North Carolina, in a brutal public transit stabbing.

“The president and the entire White House are praying for her family and friends,” Leavitt said during a press briefing. “…We must also seek justice for this crime.”

Zarutska, 23, was stabbed to death on Charlotte’s light rail transit system by alleged suspect Decarlos Brown, who has now been charged with first-degree murder, as reported by RSBN.

Shockingly, Brown had been arrested 14 times prior to this. Leavitt noted that some of his arrests in the past were related to robbery, felony larceny, breaking and entering, and robbery with a deadly weapon.

“This is madness,” she said. “This monster should have been locked up and Iryna should still be alive.”

Leavitt scolded the media for refusing to cover Zarutska’s stabbing as fervently as they covered Daniel Penny’s act of defense on a New York subway train from a violent passenger.

“Many of the journalists in this room spilled plenty of ink trying to smear Daniel Penny for defending a subway car from a deranged lunatic in New York City…but none of these same reporters lift a finger to write stories about an actual murderer,” she said.

Leavitt also slammed “reckless policies” in far-left American cities that have led to soft-on-crime fallout. “These reckless policies have turned too many of our American cities into hunting grounds for career criminals who mock our justice system, drain law enforcement resources, and wreak havoc on law-abiding citizens,” she said.

The White House press secretary described cashless bail as a “failed experiment” and slammed Democrats for pursuing their “woke” crime policies, “no matter how many innocent Americans suffer as a result.”

The Trump administration has responded swiftly to rising violent crime in American cities. On Tuesday, President Trump released a video statement condemning Zarutska’s murder and noting that such senseless and outrageous acts of violence must be met with “force and strength; we have to be vicious, just like they are – it’s the only thing they understand.”
