The White House’s X account shared President Donald Trump’s mug shot to wish him a happy Presidents Day on Monday.
The post included the quote, “They’re not just after me, they’re after you — I’m just standing in the way.”
The picture of Trump’s mug shot also comes after reports last week that Trump has a framed edition of the image hanging outside of the Oval Office in the White House.
White House chief of staff Dan Scavino posted a video to X on Friday to highlight the framed picture from Trump’s Georgia mug shot taken in Fulton County.
“Welcome to the beautiful Oval Office,” he wrote.
Trump has capitalized on the mug shot multiple times since it was taken in 2023. In December of that year, he announced the image as part of a set of digital trading cards.
“Due to the great Excitement and Success of my previous TRUMP DIGITAL TRADING CARDS, we’re doing it again – The MugShot Edition, available RIGHT NOW,” Trump said, as RSBN previously reported.
In the week after the mugshot was taken, Trump raised $9.4 million for his presidential campaign.
A large portion of these funds were raised through mugshot merchandise. 36,000 t-shirts, 24,000 mugs, and 8,600 posters have been sold. In total, this has raised nearly $3 million for the Trump campaign.
The Presidents Day highlights concerning Trump this year also included New York Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney introducing legislation on Friday to merge Flag Day with Trump’s birthday, making it a federal holiday.
“No modern president has been more pivotal for our country than Donald J. Trump. As both our 45th and 47th President, he is the most consequential President in modern American history, leading our country at a time of great international and domestic turmoil. From brokering the historic Abraham Accords to championing the largest tax relief package in American history, his impact on the nation is undeniable,” she wrote.
“Just as George Washington’s Birthday is codified as a federal holiday, this bill will add Trump’s Birthday to this list, recognizing him as the founder of America’s Golden Age. Additionally, as our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, we should create a new federal holiday honoring the American Flag and all that it represents. By designating Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day as a federal holiday, we can ensure President Trump’s contributions to American greatness and the importance of the American Flag are forever enshrined into law,”Tenney added.
