Op-Ed: The fight to protect children from sexualization in education continues into the 2025-2026 school year

The 2025-2026 school year is dawning. For generations, that meant preparing children for fun-filled classes full of English, math, science and history lessons. But in recent years, parents have been forced to prepare their children for the ongoing culture war that seeks to sacrifice the next generation at the altar of gender theory.

Now conservative parents and leaders are fighting back after the Supreme Court ruled in June that families have the right to opt their children out of gender identity lessons in school.

But this fight is far from over. President Donald Trump ordered that federal funding can not be used to promote gender identity lessons on his first day back in the White House this year, yet liberal teachers, school officials, and leaders have committed to defying this return to sanity.

Pride flags and LGBTQ propaganda are still filling public school campuses as the 2025-2026 school year begins, and it is parents’ jobs to be diligent and speak out against gender theory being shoved into children’s faces.

Last week, the concerned parent of a Parkways South District student in Missouri blasted my former middle school for displaying an LGBTQ board in the seventh-grade hallway at Parkway Southwest Middle School. I walked those halls when I was thirteen years old. That place is part of the reason I now homeschool my children. Not only did teachers do nothing about constant bullying issues, but by eighth grade, I was also taught about population control and told that my peers and I needed to make sure that we had no more than two children when we grew up, because having more children was “bad for the environment.”

The connection between climate alarmism and gender theory is closer than most parents realize. By teaching children that gender is a spectrum and men can have babies, gender-crazed teachers are priming these children for sterilization. The push for school-prescribed puberty blockers and gender transition, without parental consent, became a serious public school population control craze during the Biden administration. But no more. We cannot allow our children to be sexualized at younger and younger ages while simultaneously being primed for birth control and anti-family campaigns before they even hit puberty.

Any parent who wants their children to learn traditional subjects like English, math, science and history without LGBTQ content needs to look over all of their children’s school work, be in close contact with teachers and other parents, and talk to their children about what they learn every day.

Because a concerned mother spoke out against the gender theory propaganda at Southwest Middle School, it was removed this week. She contacted the right people and didn’t back down.

This is a major win. But it’s a triumph in only one battle in one school. If conservative parents are going to protect their children from radical leftists, they have to remain as involved as possible and never back down.
