President Donald Trump showed he is a “man of the people,” by visiting the residents of East Palestine, Ohio, Wednesday.
While Trump visited the residents of East Palestine Thursday, Biden has yet to visit the site of the train derailment that led to hazardous chemicals spreading throughout the region.
President Donald Trump’s visit to East Palestine, Ohio, is believed to have placed pressure on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
A report by the Western Journal indicated that while FEMA initially refused to send aid to Ohio to deal with the results of the train derailment and release of dangerous chemicals, Trump’s announcement of his visit to East Palestine was quickly followed by an announcement that FEMA would be sending aid to Ohio.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump touted the impact the announcement of his visit had on FEMA and the Biden administration, saying, “Biden and FEMA said they would not be sending federal aid to East Palestine. As soon as I announced that I’m going, he announced a team will go. Hopefully he will also be there. This is good news because we got them to ‘move.’ The people of East Palestine need help.”
During his visit to East Palestine on Wednesday, Trump was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of local residents. In a video shared by Liz Harrington, many of the local residents can be heard shouting, “thank you for coming,” “thank you for not forgetting about us,” and “we love you.”
According to RSBN, Trump recently presented a clear contrast between how he would have handled the train derailment and hazardous chemical exposure and the Biden administration’s slow and reluctant response to the disaster.
“We would’ve had funds there,” Trump said. “We would’ve had doctors there. We would’ve known what was happening, and we would’ve taken care of — and we would’ve consoled people. They were left hopeless. The government said they’re not coming, FEMA said they’re not coming. Look, until I announced, two days ago, that I was going, they weren’t doing it.”
Delivering a message to the people of East Palestine during his Wednesday visit, Trump stated, “To the people of East Palestine and to the nearby communities in Ohio and Pennsylvania we have told you loud and clear, ‘You are not forgotten.’ We stand with you, we pray for you, and we will stay with you in your fight to help answer and the accountability you deserve.”
Unlike Biden who has not visited East Palestine, Liz Harrington pointed out in her tweet on Wednesday, Trump is a “man of the people.” Asked what his message would be to Biden during his trip to Ohio, Trump responded, “Get over here.”
