Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) will block the renewal of state licenses for any Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) facility that houses illegal migrant children, including those pretending to be children, flown to Florida by the Biden administration.
DeSantis announced the “emergency order” at a press conference in Jacksonville on Friday amid the “reckless” catch-and-release immigration policies of Joe Biden.
“Any of those folks who are involved in facilitating this type of illegal migration in the state of Florida—they’re gonna be barred from doing any business with any state or any local government agency in the state of Florida,” said DeSantis.
“We just cannot be doing contracts with companies that are knowingly and recklessly facilitating bringing people here into our state illegally,” he added.
Florida’s DCF facilities were created to care for illegal alien children without parents or legal guardians, but Joe Biden’s immigration policies have changed their purpose to instead provide them housing and resettle them in the United States.
DeSantis warned he would shut down any facility, public or private, that houses and resettles illegal alien children smuggled into the U.S. by the Biden administration.
DCF facilities that do this will lose their licenses, and private entities will be required to pay the state restitution.
“We’re also going to require that any private entities thats involved in facilitating illegal migration into Florida owes the state restitution for each person that they’re facilitating,” said DeSantis.
The Florida governor also blasted Biden for ending the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy, which required illegal immigrants to remain Mexico while their court cases awaited adjudication. Instead, Biden restarted the Obama-era “catch and release” policy, and criminal illegal border-crossers are now freed from prison into the U.S. instead of Mexico while they await their adjudication case, which they almost never show up for.
Thankfully, the Biden administration was ordered to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy beginning last week.
“When Trump was president, and you had a criminal alien in a Florida state penitentiary, they served their sentence. ICE would pick them up, and then they’d send them back,” DeSantis said.
“Biden doesn’t. They don’t really do that,” he added. “Sometimes they’ll do it now cause theres been some pressure, but a lot of times they will release these people. That was not happening previously.”
The Biden administration reportedly organized secret late night flights with planeloads of illegal migrant children, according to video surveillance and flight logs, flying them into remote areas and bussing them into cities and suburban areas to be housed and resettled across the U.S.
Over 70 flights of smuggled migrant children have landed in Jacksonville alone, according to DeSantis. One of the “children” Biden let across the border was a 24-year-old Honduran man who claimed to be 17 years old. He allegedly stabbed and killed the father of four he was housed to live with by the Biden administration.
DeSantis last month floated the idea that he would send the migrants flown to Florida to Biden’s home state of Delaware.
DeSantis pledged on Friday to “fight back against the federal government’s ineptitude and inaction,” adding that Florida had a “responsibility to stand up to an administration” that doesn’t want a secure border.
