Kari Lake, the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate for Arizona governor, has vowed to finish the Arizona border wall with “Arizona steel.”
In a year that has seen more than 1.7 million illegal immigrants cross the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Americans and border-state residents are likely relieved to hear that Kari Lake is committed to securing the southern border.
In a new commercial released by the Kari Lake for Governor campaign, Lake was seen standing at the gates of the White House.
“Joe Biden is the worst type of hypocrite,” she stated in the video. “Don’t believe me? Well, take a look at this.” After gesturing to the sky-high steel fencing surrounding the White House, Lake added, “Somewhere in that house is an incompetent career politician who is completely protected from any possible threat. Why? Well, because walls and fences work.”
Kari Lake, who was given a glowing endorsement from President Trump in September, has recently shown up big in the polls ahead of the Arizona governor primary, netting 28 percent of the potential conservative vote. This has given her a lead on other Republican candidates vying for the nomination, like Rep. Matt Salmon (R) and State Treasurer Kimberly Yee (R).
Additionally, Lake is popular among conservative voters in Arizona thanks to her dedication to “America First” policies and her promise to keep Arizona open for business in the face of more lockdowns and shutdowns surrounding various new strains of the coronavirus.
Lake promised on Twitter, “Not one single Church. Not one single School. Not one single Gym. Not one single Business. We will never be shut down again.”
Since Biden took office in 2021, his administration has halted construction on the border wall. In June, Biden rescinded the Migrant Protection Protocols, better known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy that was implemented during the Trump administration. “Remain in Mexico” required migrants who were seeking asylum in the United States to wait outside of the country while awaiting their immigration court dates.
However, Biden’s administration announced that they would be reimplementing the policy in November, thanks to a Supreme Court decision that ordered its reinstatement.
Kari Lake’s dedication to keeping Arizonans secure from illegal immigration and open for business amidst a fluctuating coronavirus pandemic will likely continue to be a very popular platform for her among Arizona voters, if the polls are any indication.
President Trump told voters that Kari Lake was someone who would fight for the values of the MAGA movement in his September endorsement, and it certainly seems like she’s doing exactly that, especially in light of her promise to finish the Arizona border wall.
