Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), stated in a recent interview with CNN that he would not care to serve under President Donald Trump if he is reelected in 2024.
When asked if he would “stay” in his post to advise the president if Trump returned to power, Fauci stated, “Well, no to the second question…if you look at the history of what the response was during the administration, I think, you know, at best, you can say it wasn’t optimal.”
Kari Lake, the Republican gubernatorial frontrunner in Arizona ahead of the primary election, shared her thoughts about Fauci’s admission on Twitter.
“Dr. Fauci has announced that he will NOT serve under President Trump during his second term,” Lake stated. “Well duh…it’s pretty hard to hold an official position from behind bars. #ArrestFauci.”
Dr. Fauci’s public persona has been troubled, with many reports surfacing over the past two years linking him to gain-of-function research and heinous evidence of experiments conducted on animals in the name of “science” through the NIAID.
Additionally, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., pledged in March that he would investigate Dr. Fauci to the “fullest extent of the law” when Republicans regain their majority in the Senate. Sen. Paul has alleged that Dr. Fauci was involved in funding the virology lab in Wuhan China connected with the origin of the coronavirus.
According to a report from Breitbart, Fauci contended that he would not return to advise President Trump if he returned to the Oval Office because of the “divisiveness” of his administration.” He added that it was “no secret” that he had to be “publicly correcting misrepresentation” for Trump.
However, President Trump has frequently roasted Dr. Fauci since leaving the White House.
Last year, the Washington Examiner reported that Trump referred to Fauci as wrong on combating the coronavirus on many levels, including his approach to masking, travel bans, and the origination of the virus itself.
“He’s a great promoter,” Trump stated in a speech at the North Carolina GOP convention in 2021. “Not a great doctor, but a hell of promoter.”
