Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy suggested as new House Speaker options

In the wake of the chaos caused by a derailed bipartisan congressional spending deal, some are suggesting it’s time for a new House speaker, and Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been mentioned for the title.

The spending bill, under the efforts of House Speaker Mike Johnson, had come under fire by President Trump and Musk. RSBN reported what President Trump said about the bill, “The bill would make it easier to hide the records of the corrupt January 6 committee—which accomplished nothing for the American people and hid security failures that happened that day.” He added, “This bill would also give Congress a pay increase while many Americans are struggling this Christmas.”

According to CBS News, President Trump’s statement and Musk’s posts on social media stopped the bill in its tracks just in time for the government shutdown.

In response to the looming shutdown, lawmakers are now scrambling for a new plan to avert the shutdown on Friday, which will include a 1,547-page short-term Continuing Resolution that has a voting deadline of Friday.

RSBN reported that America First conservatives in Congress blasted the resolution and Musk to X to write, “Kill the Bill.” Within hours, the bill was pulled, and Musk’s potential as a House speaker was put in the limelight.

Ramaswamy was also quick to slam the bill, and the Daily Signal reported that he said, “ Congress is about to pass a bill that blows away your taxpayer money, but they made it over 1,500 pages long, so you wouldn’t read it,”

He added. “And the worst part is, they didn’t want you to know about any of it. That’s why they made this a last-minute jam job.”

Now, senators have voiced their opinion that both Musk and Ramaswamy would make excellent house speakers. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, suggested on X, “House Republicans should hire either @elonmusk or @VivekGRamaswamy as their next speaker.”

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., also suggested Musk as a potential. He wrote on X, “The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress . . .  Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk . . . think about it .  . . nothing’s impossible..”
