As Los Angeles goes up in flames amid violent and destructive riots aimed at protesting federal deportation efforts, President Donald Trump has been left to clean up Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom’s mess – and it is costing the California leader major political points.

Over the past few days, President Trump has moved to deploy thousands of National Guardsmen, as well as a force of 700 U.S. Marines, to stabilize the flaming city of Los Angeles, as violent demonstrators have hurled rocks at law enforcement, lit cars ablaze, and looted stores – all in the name of protesting the deportation of illegal aliens.

As reported by RSBN, Gov. Newsom has claimed that such deployments are “reckless,” as it marked a rare moment when President Trump utilized federal authority to activate the defense forces without obtaining a governor’s consent.

However, President Trump has been clear that the situation in Los Angeles is dire. On Truth Social, he explained:

“If I didn’t ‘SEND IN THE TROOPS’ to Los Angeles the last three nights, that once beautiful and great City would be burning to the ground right now, much like 25,000 houses burned to the ground in L.A. due to an incompetent Governor and Mayor – Incidentally, the much more difficult, time consuming, and stringent FEDERAL PERMITTING PROCESS is virtually complete on these houses, while the easy and simple City and State Permits are disastrously bungled up and WAY BEHIND SCHEDULE!”

Indeed, under the leadership of Gov. Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, rebuilding efforts in Pacific Palisades following the devastating fires earlier this year have seemed to slog along, according to some reports.

The intense rioting and looting in Los Angeles have only served to focus attention on California’s problems under Gov. Newsom and the Democratic legislature. In fact, new data from YouGov reveals that only 34 percent of Americans have a “favorable” opinion of Newsom as of June 10.

This downward descent in Newsom’s already meager popularity seems to at least partially reflect Americans’ disapproval of the way he has handled the situation in Los Angeles. Newsom has repeatedly blamed President Trump for the riots in California, the governor’s own state.

However, the violent behavior from the protestors in L.A. has not been a winning approach with President Trump and his administration.

“‘If they spit, we will hit,’” President Trump wrote on Truth Social this week. “This is a statement from the President of the United States concerning the catastrophic Gavin Newscum inspired Riots going on in Los Angeles. The Insurrectionists have a tendency to spit in the face of the National Guardsmen/women, and others.”
