Vice President Kamala Harris called President Donald Trump to concede the 2024 presidential race on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
Harris is scheduled to give a concession speech later in the day and will focus on a “peaceful transfer of power.”
Harris is scheduled to speak at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time from her alma mater, Howard University. Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff is expected to be be in attendance.
President Joe Biden also reportedly called Trump to congratulate him on his victory, according to NBC News.
Trump was projected as the winner of the presidential election shortly after he was predicted to win Pennsylvania. The total gave him 267 electoral votes. Combined with Alaska’s expected three additional electoral votes, the total of 270 secured the decision.
Decision Desk HQ has called all states except Arizona. Trump currently stands at 301 projected electoral votes, with Harris at 226.
He currently leads in Arizona which would end with him receiving 312 electoral votes.
Trump also became the first Republican president to win the popular vote in 20 years with over 72 million votes compared with Harris at 67 million votes.
Republicans also flipped the Senate, taking seats in West Virginia, Ohio and Montana. The GOP currently stands at 52 seats with Democrats at 45 seats.
Three Senate races have not yet been called. Republicans lead in Pennsylvania and Nevada, while Democrats narrowly lead over Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake in Arizona.
If the current projections hold, Republicans will gain 54 seats.
The House also remains undecided. Republicans are currently projected to win 210 seats, with Democrats at 194. The GOP is projected to win 222 seats, giving them the majority, as at least 218 seats are required for control of the House.
