The Trump campaign released a statement following a CNN interview by Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday night, criticizing what was left out of her discussion.
The conversation with CNN’s Dana Bash was the first sit-down interview given by Harris since her announcement to run for president over a month ago.
“Kamala spoke for just over 16 minutes and didn’t even address the crime crisis in this nation. She spent a mere 3 minutes and 25 seconds talking about the economy and 2 minutes and 36 seconds talking about immigration,” the statement read.
“Kamala said her values ‘have not changed’ three separate times. She’s still a San Francisco radical,” it continued.
During her interview, Harris claimed that Americans were ready to move on from Trump. One response addressed her role as President Joe Biden’s border czar.
“The root causes work that I did as vice president that I was asked to do by the president has actually resulted in a number of benefits, including historic investments by American businesses in that region, the number of immigrants coming from that region has actually reduced since we began that work,” she said.
The Trump campaign’s statement responded that the interview neglected to mention her “support for closing immigration detention centers and freeing thousands of criminals into American neighborhoods.”
The Trump campaign responded with a list of problems left out of the discussion, including, “Kamala’s support for ending cash bail for violent criminals,” her “fundraising for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which freed rioters” and “tie-breaking vote for American Rescue Plan, which economists say fueled inflation.”
The statement also attacked her past statements about law enforcement, noting her “support for defunding the police” and “comments comparing policing to slavery.”
Other issues that the statement noted addressed Bidenomics, the left’s Medicare-for-All, support for reparations and efforts to decriminalize prostitution.
In a separate statement, Trump’s campaign highlighted one of the most bizarre moments of the Harris interview where Bash asked her whether she supported a ban on fracking.
“Kamala bizarrely lied about her support for a fracking ban,” the statement read. “She has repeatedly endorsed a ban on fracking. It’s literally on tape.”
