When the Continental Congress adopted the famous Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, they did so to secede from an unfair government that no longer represented their best interests.
Their efforts to create a new nation built on preserving life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, brought about the freest nation in world history: the United States of America.
However, as leaders have changed, so has the concept of freedom, which has seemingly grown smaller and smaller over the past few decades as the role of government has increased.
When Joe Biden took power in January 2021, the very concept of freedom changed from being something that was absolute, to one that was malleable. As Biden himself said, “No amendment to the Constitution is absolute.”
The question remains: just how much freedom has been lost over the past three years?
Joe Biden answered this question himself while speaking on the steps of Independence Hall in September 2022. Drowned with dark red lighting and surrounded by armed guards, Biden called “MAGA Republicans” a “threat to this country” that were “determined to take this country backwards.”
“They promote authoritarian leaders, and they fan the flames of political violence that are a threat to our personal rights, to the pursuit of justice, to the rule of law, to the very soul of this country,” said Biden.
Biden continued, “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”
Ironic to his own words, however, Biden’s tenure over the past three years has been one of the most consequential in the country’s history. No other president has sought to unconstitutionally squash peoples’ freedoms as Biden has, nor attacked and arrested their political dissidents.
From day one, the Biden administration has walked upon the Constitution while fiercely targeting ordinary Americans like no other administration in U.S. history.
During his first year in office, Biden unconstitutionally attempted to force American businesses to vaccinate their workers against Covid-19, threatening non-compliance with termination.
“This is not about freedom or personal choice,” Biden said in his address regarding these requirements, which were later ruled as being unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Simultaneously, the Biden administration reportedly weaponized the Department of Justice to go after parents at school board meetings who voiced concern about critical race theory being taught in their children’s classrooms.
A letter issued to Biden by the National School Board Association labeled the parents as domestic terrorists, demanding the administration use the Patriot Act to target the parents. Days later, Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered the FBI to investigate these parents, according to the House Judiciary Committee.
The House Judiciary Committee also noted that an unnamed FBI agent had come forward to substantiate the allegations.
Most recently, the Biden administration’s latest focus has been putting President Trump, the current frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, behind bars for the rest of his life.
Since the Biden FBI’s raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last year, the Justice Department has continuously indicted and charged the presidential frontrunner time and time again. Trump was arraigned on 37 charges in Miami on June 13 due to his reported “mishandling” of classified documents.
Federal officials are also reportedly attempting to bring another 30-45 charges against Trump related to the documents case, as previously reported by RSBN.
Meanwhile, Biden has faced zero consequences after classified material was found in his garage in Delaware. The papers in question were allegedly taken while Biden served as vice president, and — as Trump noted — a vice president “cannot declassify documents.”
All things considered, the Biden administration has prioritized their federal powers over personal freedoms. America had once stood as the leading beacon of freedom for the world. Now, it is a nation that locks away its political opponents and vows to do so to others who threaten their status quo.
On Election Day in 2024, Americans will decide the future of freedom, and what future celebrations of Independence Day represent.
