First Lady Melania Trump hosted a fundraiser event for Republicans on Saturday night at the home that she shares with her husband, President Trump, in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, marking her return to campaigning amidst a heated election season.
Mrs. Trump hosted an event for the Log Cabin Republicans, where she was also joined by former U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell, and Bill White. She focused heavily on the theme of unification preceding the highbrow evening, calling for an emphasis on individualism and equality.
She stated before the event, “We must unite in our effort to establish a society where equality is the everyday experience of every American. Individual freedom provides a unifying set of principles, and ultimately establishes our American way.”
On Saturday, the First Lady wore a sharp black jacket and pants, offset with sleek heels and a leather belt. She looked happy and vibrant as she took the podium, which was preceded by an introduction from Mr. Grenell.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be in your presence, once again, surrounded by allies and friends who share the common goal of promoting equality for all,” she said.
The weekend fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans is not the first time that Mrs. Trump has shown her support for the organization. In 2021, the organization presented her with the Spirit of Lincoln Award in honor of her work toward improving standards of equality in America.
Per the organization’s statement:
The name of the organization is a reference to the first Republican President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who was born in a Log Cabin. President Lincoln built the Republican Party on the principles of liberty and equality under the law. The party should return to its roots. When the organization was founded, the name, “Lincoln Club,” was already taken by another GOP group, so organizers instead chose the name Log Cabin Republicans.
