NASA revealed on Tuesday that the recent return of two American astronauts after nine months on the International Space Station would not have happened without the help of President Donald Trump.

NASA spokeswoman Bethany Stevens shared the news about astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Suni Williams in an interview with Fox News.

“This is a huge win for the Trump administration. And it would not have happened without President Trump’s intervention. Up next on the docket, to continue implementing President Trump’s ambitious space agenda that he touted in his inaugural address is to confirm his nominee for NASA administrator, Jared Isaacman,” Stevens said.

“President Trump was also once considered an outsider, and the American people have put him back into office, just showing how much they appreciate the business side that he brings to the table. And Mr. Isaacman also has a background as an entrepreneur of an extremely successful business,” Stevens said. “I believe that he is well-suited, as do 30 astronauts who wrote in support of him and multiple GOP governors, that he is well suited to take the helm here at NASA and to implement the president’s agenda.”

Wilmore and Williams successfully returned to Earth on March 18 after months of delays related to their return under the Biden administration. Their return was about the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.

Just one week after returning to office in January, Trump called on SpaceX leader Elon Musk to “go get” two American astronauts who have been stuck on the International Space Station.

Trump shared the challenge with Musk in a post on his Truth Social account.

“I have just asked Elon Musk and @SpaceX to ‘go get’ the 2 brave astronauts who have been virtually abandoned in space by the Biden Administration. They have been waiting for many months on @Space Station. Elon will soon be on his way. Hopefully, all will be safe. Good luck Elon!!!” Trump wrote.

Musk included a statement to his X platform concerning the fate of the two astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams.

“The @POTUS has asked @SpaceX to bring home the 2 astronauts stranded on the @Space_Station as soon as possible. We will do so. Terrible that the Biden administration left them there so long,” Musk wrote.
