President Donald Trump delivered an Inaugural Address on Monday in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda after taking the oath of office as the 47th, elevating the core tenants of American greatness and especially focusing on unity.
The president acknowledged Martin Luther King Jr. Day and said, “In his honor, we will strive together to make his dream a reality, we will make his dream come true.”
He continued, “National unity is now returning to America, and confidence and pride is soaring like never before.”
The president vowed that during his new administration, he would be inspired by the “strong pursuit of excellence and unrelenting success.”
He added, “We will not forget our country, we will not forget our Constitution, and we will not forget our GOD.”
President Trump also highlighted how the American people have unilaterally embraced his America First agenda, as demonstrated in his crushing landslide victory in November 2024.
“As our victory showed, the entire nation is rapidly unifying with our agenda,” he said.
Monday’s inauguration was a celebration of a long political and personal journey for President Trump and his family. During his address, he briefly reflected on his near-brush with death in July 2024, when he was struck by an assassin’s bullet.
“I was saved by God to make America great again,” he said, reiterating a sentiment that he has mentioned during his campaign.
He promised to “Give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy, and indeed, their FREEDOM.”
