Texas boasts record-breaking GOP primary voter turnout

Republicans celebrated Wednesday after 182 Texas counties boasted record-breaking vote counts in the state’s 2022 GOP primary elections.

Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, shared the record-setting results on his campaign Twitter, stating, “182 counties broke their record for MOST midterm primary votes in county history.” He added, “Republicans are fired up to keep Texas on the right course.”

Republican voter turnout in the GOP Texas primary elections can largely be attributed to the Republican Party’s momentum ahead of the 2022 midterms. The Republican Party has its sights fixed on retaking both the House and the Senate. In this year’s election, a critical state to watch could be Texas – which analysts have speculated could be becoming a battleground state.

After sweeping Republican victories, the New York Times reported, “Republicans demonstrated they are energized…and hardly ceding their hold on the state.” Tuesday’s election results show that the Democrats’ hope of turning Texas blue is far from reality.

President Donald Trump endorsed 33 candidates before Tuesday’s primary elections. Each candidate that Trump endorsed performed exceptionally well in their primary races. Trump stated, “All 33 candidates that were Trump endorsed have either won their primary election or are substantially leading in the case of a runoff.”

The results of Tuesday’s primary elections in Texas build upon the Republican Party’s momentum ahead of the 2022 midterm elections this November. The massive wave of Republican momentum has been aided by strong America First candidates, the weakness of the Biden administration, and a united push for the restoration of freedom in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The record-breaking primary in Texas is sure to strengthen the Republican Party’s “red wave” in November’s midterm elections.
