Republican House Caucus Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., joined President Trump at Mar-a-Lago last Tuesday to fundraise for GOP candidates running in the coming election year. They duo managed to garner a stunning $3.2 million.
About 200 attendees came to the event, some paying $1,000 per ticket, or a whopping $25,000 for a package, which included a roundtable event with both Stefanik and Trump in the “white and gold room.”
Stefanik took to Twitter to thank the people of New York’s 21st district and everyone who joined them at the resort, reminding them that there will be a red wave for Republicans in 2022.
One notable attendee included Ohio Republican Party State Chair Jane Timken, who is endorsed by Stefanik’s PAC and aims to place more conservative women into elected positions. The Ohio Senate primary is an eye-catcher, as it has become crowded with Trump-supporting candidates. However, Trump has yet to endorse a candidate in the primary.
Another attendee at the event was New York Conservative Party State Chair Gerry Kassar, who Stefanik praised for supporting her campaign in the primary.
Kassar told the New York Post that, “It was really a New York crowd. (Trump) may be down in Florida but he’s a New Yorker. He talked about the troubles due to the economy. It was a great time, my wife and I had a very good time. I was happy to see him and interact the crowd was up close.”
As GOP efforts heat up to win back the House and Senate, the 45th president has shown that his support alone can dramatically boost fundraising for Republican candidates.
Trump gave Stefanik a glowing review during the evening, and even hinted that she could be president by 2028.
“I want to congratulate Elise on her success. Man is she moving fast. That means at this rate she’ll be President in about 6 years,” Trump said. “She’s always been a friend and people would say she’s upwardly mobile. She goes to Washington as a young beautiful woman who took over and all of a sudden, she becomes a rocket ship, she’s the boss. She’s been a great boss, a strong boss.”
