President Donald Trump announced his leadership picks for the Republican National Committee, spearheading a shakeup that could drastically reshape the committee’s internal politics ahead of the 2024 general election.
In his statement, President Trump explained:
“The RNC MUST be a good partner in the Presidential election. It must do the work we expect from the national Party and do it flawlessly. That means helping to ensure fair and transparent elections across the country, getting out the vote everywhere – even in parts of the country where it won’t be easy – and working with my campaign, as the Republican presumptive nominee for President, to win this election and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The president named Michael Whatley as his pick for the next chairman of the RNC, calling him a “friend” who is “committed to election integrity.”
RSBN previously reported that Whatley has served as the North Carolina Republican Party Chair since 2019 and has been a strong Trump ally.
Further, President Trump also named his “very talented daughter-in-law” Lara Trump to run for co-chair of the RNC. He explained, “Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for. She has told me she wants to accept this challenge and would be GREAT!”
The president offered a third important endorsement at the RNC, naming Chris LaCavita for the position of Chief Operating Officer of the committee. Currently, LaCavita is a senior advisor in President Trump’s campaign.
The president wrote, “Chris will manage the RNC’s day-to-day operations so it will become a fighting machine for 2024 and use all the tools available to win for the American people.”
On Monday, The New York Times reported that President Trump was mulling over endorsing his daughter-in-law for RNC co-chair. Later that evening, the president issued his official endorsements of Whatley, Ms. Trump, and LaCavita.
