According to Fox News, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said that the suspect taken into custody by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office is Ryan Wesley Routh. The man who was apprehended in a black SUV is believed to be the individual who fled President Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach after hiding in the bushes surrounding the golf course with an AK-47-style rifle with a scope.
On Sunday, Secret Service reportedly fired four shots at the suspect when they saw the barrel of his rifle through the bushes surrounding the property. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw estimated during a press conference that the suspect was 300-500 yards away from President Trump, who was golfing with his friend Steve Witkoff. President Trump and everyone on the course are safe, the Trump campaign has confirmed.
Officials are expected to provide more information about Ryan Wesley Routh shortly.
