President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan met with Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and other officials at the southern border on Tuesday.
Homan praised Abbott’s efforts ahead of his mass deportation efforts expected after Trump takes office in January.
“Look, illegal crossings in Texas is down over 80% because of great work by Gov. Abbott. And he’s been successful because he has taken the Trump policies and put them to work,” Homan said.
“He’s put border barriers and walls up. Walls work. President Trump proved that. He has consequences. He’s arresting people and charging them that cross the border. Consequences work,” he added.
Other guests included National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez, DPS Director Steve McCraw, Adjutant General of Texas Thomas Suelzer and Texas special adviser on border matters to the governor Mike Banks, Newsmax noted.
Homan’s visit also included helping to serve meals to state troopers and national guardsmen on Tuesday, according to Fox News. He also warned against states suggesting they will oppose Trump’s deportation efforts.
“I’ve said 100 times in the last week, don’t cross that line. It’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal illegal alien from immigration authorities – don’t test us,” Homan said.
Governors in Arizona, Illinois and Massachusetts are among Democratic state leaders who have vowed to oppose Trump’s deportation plans, the outlet added. Denver’s mayor also recently stated that he was willing to go to jail over his opposition to the plan.
RSBN previously reported that Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk posted on X that Homan planned to return to his post if Trump won the White House in 2024.
According to Kirk’s post, Homan went on national TV, saying he “promised President Trump, if he goes back, I will go back, and I’m going to run the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen.”
Homan’s comment coincides with a promise made by Donald Trump at a California GOP convention, where he vowed to embark on the “largest deportation operation in history” as the illegal population in the United States is on pace to double since Biden took office in 2020 due to his open border policies.
