Trump Calls on GOP to Win America Back

by Ashley Muñoz

President Trump made headlines after emphasizing the GOP must re-take the House, Senate, and White House, during his speech Saturday at the North Carolina GOP State Convention in Greenville, N.C.

“We have no choice, we have to get it done,” said Trump. “We are going to lay the groundwork for making sure Republicans once again carry the great state of North Carolina.”

He reaffirmed his support for a number of elected officials who align with his America First vision, including Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., and Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, R-N.C.

To address rumors that Lara Trump may run for Senate in North Carolina, President Trump welcomed his daughter-in-law on stage to make a special announcement.

“I am a no for now, but not no forever,” said Lara Trump, making it clear she does not intend to run for Senate in 2022. After long consideration, she said her decision was driven by her priority to care for her young children who are ages one and three.

After breaking the news that Lara Trump is not running at this time, President Trump endorsed Rep. Ted Budd, R-N.C., for the upcoming US Senate race in 2022.

“He loves the state of North Carolina, he loves the country,” said President Trump. “I am giving him my complete and total endorsement.”

The North Carolina GOP State Convention was a sold-out event and marks one the first major events the former president has spoken at since CPAC in February. North Carolina Republican Party Chair Michael Whatley said this was the single largest fundraising event in the history of the North Carolina Republican Party.

Trump reportedly plans to return to North Carolina in the coming months as he resumes rallies ahead of the 2022 midterms.
