President Donald Trump released a Veterans Day video statement thanking America’s veterans for their service and strength.
“On this Veterans Day, I’d like to pay tribute to all of those incredible people, and you are indeed incredible people, who served so well, and so strong, and so powerfully in the United States Armed Forces,” said Trump.
Trump promised America’s veterans that “we will come back,” hinting at his potential 2024 bid for the White House.
“We love you, our nation respects you, the world respects you, and we will come back,” Trump said. “Our country has gone through a lot. The last period of time has been very, very tough, watching what you had to watch—but our country will be back, and will be back stronger than ever. Happy Veterans Day!”
In 2016, President Trump had promised throughout his presidential campaign to fix the issue-ridden Veterans Affairs (VA) department.
During his presidency, he signed the VA Mission Act, which allowed veterans to see the doctor of their choice without having to wait for care. President Trump also signed Executive Order 13822, which eliminated all student loan debt for disabled veterans, and helped find veterans employment in the civilian workforce. Additionally, President Trump signed the Forever GI Bill, which allowed veterans to use their benefits to get an education at any point in their lives.
Veterans Day is a reminder to all Americans of the honor, courage, and sacrifice made by veterans to protect the common good and our freedoms. This Veterans Day, remember to thank a veteran for their service, and remember the sacrifices that were made to protect our freedoms in this great nation.
