President Donald Trump vowed on Thursday to impose the death penalty for individuals found guilty of sex trafficking women and children.
The 45th president shared the commitment during his remarks at the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona.
“With your vote, we will seal the border, stop the invasion, and launch the largest deportation effort in American history. We will impose tough new sentences on illegal alien criminals,” Trump stated.
“These include a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence for anyone guilty of human smuggling, a guaranteed life sentence for anyone guilty of child trafficking, and a death penalty for anyone guilty of child or woman sex trafficking,” he continued.
Trump’s comments also addressed the death penalty as an option for drug traffickers from other countries.
“We’ll also impose the death penalty on major drug dealers and traffickers in other countries on their immigration papers. There’s a statement that says ‘death for drug traffickers,’ big letters, big, bold letters, 10 times the size of everything else on the page,” he added.
Trump’s plan follows the addition of the death penalty for child rape convictions in Florida. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the new measure in May 2023.
“We’re really delivering a big agenda,” DeSantis said when he signed the bill into law. “So this is one important — but admittedly very small part — of an overall large agenda and very bold agenda that’s really setting the terms of the debate for the country, quite frankly.”
In December, a Florida prosecutor first sought the death penalty in a child rape case.
Trump’s campaign promises to end the border crisis included another new twist on Friday. His campaign launched a new website called KamalaBorderBloodBath.com.
The website attacks Vice President and “border czar” Kamala Harris just a day after her official nomination as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
“During her time as Border Czar, the Harris-Biden administration has allowed vicious criminals into the United States, and innocent Americans across the country are paying the price. Lethal drugs, cartels, gangs, and terrorists are taking advantage of the crisis to enter the U.S. and threaten America,” the website’s text states.
