President Donald Trump discussed the success of his new social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) after RSBN’s Brian Glenn inquired about the new venture.
Glenn highlighted the Trump administration’s slogan, “Promises Made, Promises Kept,” before asking the 45th president to comment on the successful launch of Truth Social.
“Last year, you promised to rollout a social media platform that all Americans could jump on to secure their voice,” said Glenn.
Trump replied that since the first public access of the app opened on President’s Day, he thinks “it has been an incredible success.” After becoming available for download in the Apple App Store, Truth Social skyrocketed to number one on the charts. “We have hundreds of thousands of people trying to get on,” said Trump.
As nearly one million people eagerly await full access, Truth Social is onboarding them “very slowly” to service the requests and avoid disruptions.
After losing “hundreds of millions” of followers upon his expulsion from mainstream social media sites, Trump said, “We had no voice.” However, now that Truth Social, chaired by CEO Devin Nunes, is up and running without help from woke associates, “We’re going to have a very strong voice again,” said Trump.
In a follow up question, Glenn asked Trump to elaborate on the significance of Truth Social in the “culture of communication.” Speaking about the tremendous reviews from users, Trump said that “people are loving the product.”
Inspired by a commitment to preserve the First Amendment, Trump created Truth Social to combat the fake news media and the prevalent censorship of conservatives. In an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News, Donald Trump Jr. stated that Truth Social is a “Big Tent” for people that want to exercise the freedom of speech without the suppression of Big Tech.
In closing, Trump said that “Truth is a great word,” and that he’s proud to have it within the title of the app.
