Trump Special Envoy Steve Witkoff gave a critical update this week on his ongoing talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid this administration’s valiant push for peace in Eastern Europe.

Witkoff described negotiations as “emerging” and said he recently concluded a third meeting with the Russian leader – an event that lasted five hours and included two of Putin’s “key advisors.”

He told Fox News’ Sean Hannity, “It was a compelling meeting.”

Witkoff explained that it took a lot of time to “get to this place” where they could hear out Putin’s request to secure “permanent peace, so beyond a ceasefire, we got an answer to that.”

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, praised Witkoff’s efforts on this front in a post on X, lauding the administration’s hard work to achieve peace overseas.

“No one in my father’s Administration has fought harder to end this war and bring a lasting peace deal between Russia and Ukraine than @SteveWitkoff,” he wrote.

“The establishment hates him for it, but real leaders fight for peace, not war!” Trump Jr. added.

Last month, the Trump administration reached a partial ceasefire agreement with Russia in terms of aggression toward Ukraine, following a conversation the president had with Putin. This agreement amounted to a limited ceasefire of just 30 days, which will give the involved countries time to negotiate further, via RSBN.

“We agreed to an immediate Ceasefire on all Energy and Infrastructure, with an understanding that we will be working quickly to have a Complete Ceasefire and, ultimately, an END to this very horrible War between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump explained in March.

Although negotiations have been tense at times, progress has been made. Last month, Ukraine announced in a joint statement with the American delegation from Saudi Arabia that they were ready to accept a 30-day interim ceasefire, as reported by RSBN.
