President Donald Trump’s lawyers are expected to appeal the verdict in his case with E. Jean Carroll in a federal appeals court on Friday.

Trump is expected to attend the hearing at the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City in the case involving allegations that he sexually assaulted her in 1996, according to Reuters.

A federal jury ruled last year that Trump was not liable for rape but was ordered to pay $5 million over liability for sexual abuse and defamation. Trump has denied the allegations, claiming he has “no idea who this woman is.”

Trump’s attorneys are expected to argue that the verdict should be changed due to evidence allowed during the trial that should have been excluded while denying evidence that should have been included.

No decision is expected before the November presidential election.

Trump addressed his ongoing legal challenges in a Truth Social post on Thursday.

“This is what various Legal Scholars and Experts, Brilliant Lawyers, and Highly Respected Journalists think of the Manhattan D.A. Hoax, where the Democrats, headed up by Comrade Kamala Harris, working directly with the DOJ (which they’re not supposed to be!), want to put a Former President of the United States, and the Leading Candidate for President, in PRISON,” he wrote.

“This is unheard of, there has never been anything like it in our Country, and they are doing it in a blatant and illegal attempt to ‘win’ an Election that, based on their results, should be ‘unwinnable,’ but I can’t talk about it because Judge Merchan has put an UnConstitutional Gag Order on me. Somehow it will ALL work out – I don’t know how, I don’t know why, I don’t know when, but it always does!” he added.

During a second lawsuit from Carroll for punitive damages, a jury awarded her $83.3 million in damages. Trump also appealed the second case but was denied in April.

Trump is also continuing his battle in a New York case involving allegations of hush-money payments. In the most recent development, a federal judge rejected a request to move the case to federal court over alleged bias.

“Nothing in the Supreme Court’s opinion affects my previous conclusion that the hush money payments were private, unofficial acts, outside the bounds of executive authority,” U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein wrote in the ruling on Tuesday.

“Hush money paid to an adult actress is not related to a President’s official acts. It does not reflect in any way the color of the President’s official duties,” he added.

Trump was convicted in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush-money payment made in 2016. Trump’s lawyers continue to argue for a change in his sentencing date which is currently set for later this month.
