President Trump has his sights set on winning the Republican Party’s presidential nomination this year, and given his dominance across the board among GOP voters, he’s already all but won.
The newest data tracking the 2024 GOP primary race from Morning Consult found this week that the president has a whopping 63-point lead over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, giving him 81 percent support for the nomination nationwide.
In light of the overwhelming margin Trump is carrying in the polls, the Republican National Committee was reportedly considering a possible resolution to declare the 45th president as their “presumptive nominee,” per NBC News.
However, President Trump responded to this news on Truth Social with a simple statement.
He said:
“While I greatly appreciate the Republican National Committee (RNC) wanting to make me their PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE, and while they have far more votes than necessary to do it, I feel, for the sake of PARTY UNITY, that they should NOT go forward with this plan, but that I should do it the ‘Old Fashioned’ way, and finish the process off AT THE BALLOT BOX.”
Despite the president’s strong statement on the matter, Nikki Haley still inexplicably claimed on X on Friday morning that Trump “tried to use the RNC to deny millions of voters their say in the primary.”
President Trump has enjoyed dominating victories in the first two primary contests of the year, starting with a record-breaking win in the Iowa caucuses and a historic victory in New Hampshire.
In Iowa, the president brought home a 30-point win, breaking the previous Republican victory margin of 12.8 points in 1988. He also won the highest raw vote total of any presidential candidate in New Hampshire primary history on Tuesday night.
The president also became the first Republican candidate in 48 years to win both Iowa and New Hampshire in back-to-back wins, as reported by RSBN.
“Thank you to the RNC for the Respect and Devotion you have shown me!” Trump concluded his statement.
