President Trump renews hopes for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war after hopeful posts appear on social media and as peace talks head to Munich this weekend.

It’s been under three years since the Russian-Ukraine war started, with an end in sight seemingly further and further away until President Trump arrived back in power. In just two social media posts, President Trump has renewed hopes for a swift end to the ongoing war. President Trump shared to Truth Social that he had, “Great talks with Russia and Ukraine yesterday. Good possibility of ending that horrible, very bloody war!!!”

Things started picking up after a prisoner exchange on Tuesday renewed hope. AP News reported that Marc Fogel, an American history teacher who was deemed wrongfully detained in Russia, has been returned home. On Wednesday, President Trump shared the news that he had a very productive conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On Truth Social, President Trump wrote, “We both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, “COMMON SENSE.” We both believe very strongly in it.” He also added, “We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations. We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation.”

This weekend is the Munich Security Conference, where Just The News reports a meeting between Zelenskyy, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to carry out negotiations. President Trump is hopeful that the results of this meeting will be positive because he wrote on Truth Social, “It is time to stop this ridiculous War, where there has been massive, and totally unnecessary, DEATH and DESTRUCTION. God bless the people of Russia and Ukraine!”

While there has been no agreed cease-fire just yet, AP News reported that Ukraine offered to strike a deal with President Trump’s military aid in exchange for Ukraine’s mineral industry, which President Trump seemed positive about.

As to when this war will end, President Trump offers some hope online, writing on Truth Social, “I believe this effort will lead to a successful conclusion, hopefully soon!”
