Trump’s legacy of free speech vindicated as Turning Point in U.K. calls out left’s hypocrisy over Charlie Kirk

Following the tragic assassination of conservative activist and father, Charlie Kirk, condolences and outrage have been pouring in from British government figures. However, this is nothing more than a case of crocodile tears from left-wing leaders that Tuning Point UK (TPUK) has called out.

Breitbart reported that political figures from across Europe have rushed to express their sympathies for Kirk, who was fatally shot at an event in Utah. According to USA Today, the manhunt for the man who killed Kirk is still underway and has so far obtained video images of the suspect and recovered a high-powered rifle. RSBN reported that the FBI is asking for help to identify the shooter.

On Wednesday evening, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer wrote, “My thoughts this evening are with the loved ones of Charlie Kirk” and asserted that “We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear.”

The irony of Starmer’s statement is that in recent months, his government caused outrage for imprisoning Britons for social media use, which triggered massive protest marches.

TPUK, a cadet group of Kirk’s U.S. organization that was formed in 2019, highlighted the irony of Starmer’s remarks. A TPUK spokesperson told Breitbart, “Starmer’s crocodile tears over the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk are incredibly offensive,” and added, “Had Charlie been a British citizen, Two-Tier Keir would have locked him up for his conservative views.”

In a post shared to X, TPUK also pointed out Starmer’s Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy’s remarks about Kirk during the activists’ visit in 2019. The spokesperson said, “Our Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy… branded Charlie and Turning Point as ‘sinister’ and ‘xenophobic’ in an unprovoked effort to smear us as extremists.”

They added, “Baseless smears such as these are what radicals regularly use to justify attacking us, and now Charlie is dead.”

TPUK rejected Starmer’s sympathies and stated, “Other Labour MPs have protested with violent far-left activists who attacked us. The language your party and the wider left uses to describe people like Charlie and us is the reason why we face this violence. Shame on you.”

The group has also called for a vigil for the memory of Kirk in central London on Friday.
